Best Aboriginal Clothing Ideas In Winter

Aboriginal clothing

Source Sweater Jackets One of the newest winter fashion trends that we are really excited to experiment with are the combination of a sweatshirt jacket and an Aboriginal flag t shirt. We all know winter fashion is about layering and this is one of the best pieces for layering that you can invest in.

The growing popularity of Indigenous apparel is more than a just a trend. Today, interest is again being expressed in making pelts made from animal hides, skirts made from feathers, and other forms of traditional dress. Today, many Indigenous nations are using dress as a way of maintaining their culture and proudly showing off their heritage.

Indigenous designers are incorporating traditional designs and techniques in their garments and supporting them is a good way to return respect to Indigenous styles. Indigenous fashion is designed, made, or inspired by Indigenous Australians. Because each of these groups has their own history, art, language, and culture, there is not one uniform vision for Aboriginal dress and fashion.

For most Aboriginal peoples throughout Australia, clothes come in a variety of forms, worn according to what is required by their surroundings. Part of the general set of assumptions which has characterized how history has been taught in Australian schools since Europeans arrived is the notion that the first nations of Australia did not wear clothes in traditional times.

Some human cultures, like various peoples in the Arctic Circle, have traditionally made the clothes of certain human cultures completely out of furs and decorated hides. Clothed All the first nations across the nation, except those on the Pacific coast, make their clothes–typically robes, pants, and loafers–of tanning animal hides. Many Woodlands, Haudenosaunees, and Northern First Nations used dyed porcupine quills to stitch designs onto clothing and moccasins for the many Woodlands.

Like their Northern Plains trading partners, these groups painted their own tipis, pelts, bags, and containers, and decorated clothing and other soft goods with dyed porcupine quills and, later, with glass beads. Aboriginal clothing for those groups who did not use horses consisted of aprons made from sage bark and burlap, supplemented in the winter with robes made from rabbit hide; their artistic efforts were frequently expressed in the form of elaborate basketry and cave art (petroglyphs and cave paintings). Horse-using groups were active traders amongst themselves and with others, including fur traders; Shoshone dress was especially valued in trade because of its beauty and durability.

Native Americans often used bison fur, which was suited well to the winter season as it had two layers, an outer hard coat providing some resistance to wear, and a lower, insulation-rich layer of down, the pelt of a bison. Nowadays, it is associated with expensive, designer clothes in developed countries, though the fur is still used by Indigenous Peoples in Arctic regions and at higher elevations because of its warmth and protection.

Indigenous dress and hair may be used to reflect social orders, gender, age, marital status, familial membership, and more (McCord Museum, 2013). Indigenous clothing and hair may have great significance for those wearing them as well as those seeing them. Fashion is more than an article of clothing; it is a reflection of what we value as a society.

The distinction between clothes and protective gear is not always a clean one, because clothes designed for fashion usually have a protective value, while clothes designed for function usually consider fashion when designing them. Many types of clothing are designed to be ironed prior to wearing, to eliminate wrinkles. Men’s clothes are usually more utilitarian (that is, can work well in a wider range of situations), but women have a wider variety of styles to choose from.

It is best to avoid buying infant clothes that have beads, strings, straps, draws, and fasteners. Because babies truly grow so quickly, you may try buying as few clothes as possible at each size. Cotton clothes will keep baby cooler in warm weather compared to clothes made from synthetic fibers. It is also important to look out for clothes that have low fire-hazard labels. Caribou leather garment construction is a complicated process and takes considerable time to perfect. Due to arm movements on the body, caribou clothes typically become worn over a period of one year. Lack of adequate winter gear was also probably contributing to the students’ illnesses, such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, and fever.

At different times, the Singwauk was desperate for clothes, particularly warm winter clothes like mittens, caps, and coats, and many boys were expected to go on in the cold with no clothes. E.F. Wilson purchased the clothing, or the Sunday school or an individual could pay $50 and send 1 coat, 2 suits, 3 shirts, 4 pairs of socks, 2 caps (1 winter, 1 summer), 1 pair of boots, 1 muffler, 1 pair of mitts, 2 pairs of winter mittens, 2 stockings, 2 jacks, and 4 pocket squares. Since most of this work was done by women of the household, they were continually engaged in the hard, physically demanding labor of making and caring for clothing.

Modern European fashions are far less conservative with clothes, generally cutting them so that they leave a variety of oddly shaped cloth residues. Clothing has been made of an extremely broad variety of materials, ranging from leather and fur, woven textiles, and complex, exotic natural and synthetic fabrics.

Why Is Naidoc Week Significant?

A week celebrating the history, culture and accomplishments of Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout Australia (and, of course, the entire continent). When you get right down to it, the importance of the week is in being a celebration of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – and of their achievements, stories and history – and that is something that Australia as a whole shares.

NAIDOC week is held during the first week of July (Sunday to Sunday) that includes the second Friday – historically celebrated as Indigenous National Day. Each year, the week beginning on the first Sunday in July is the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week. NAIDOC is an annual, week-long event celebrated across Australia. The NAIDOC National Poster Competition has become an iconic feature of the NAIDOC National Week, and has a rich and significant history, beginning in 1967, when the NAIDOC first began releasing posters. NAIDOC Week began with protests and activism by Indigenous people. For example, some Indigenous communities didn’t celebrate Australia Day, which turned into a day of mourning. NAIDOC week (pronounced NAY-dok) is celebrated not only in Indigenous Australian communities, but also in an increasing number of Government agencies, schools, local councils, and workplaces.

NAIDOC is a week of celebrating Indigenous culture and heritage, honouring 65,000 years of history, uniting communities, and teaching and sharing stories with the rest of Australia. The commemoration day provides a chance to reconcile and invest in Aboriginal communities. It is a national commemoration of the International Day of Action to Eliminate Racial Discrimination.

The Australian Aboriginal Progress Association has called upon all Aboriginal peoples at advanced stages in their civilization and culture to commemorate a day of mourning, simultaneously with the white mans day of rejoicing, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of white peoples arrival in Australia. In 1984, the NADOC called for Australia Day to be made a national public holiday, in order to help celebrate and acknowledge the rich cultural history which makes Australia unique. In 1955, Indigenous Peoples Day was moved to the first Sunday of July, following the decision that Indigenous Peoples Day should be a celebration of Aboriginal culture, not a protest or, some believed, remove a protest from Australia Day.

The NMCA believed that a Day of Remembrance should be more than just a protest day, and should be a celebration of Aboriginal culture, so the day was moved in 1955 to the first Sunday in July. The following year, 1956, the second Sunday in July became a Day of Remembrance for Aboriginal Peoples, and it provided a key date for NAIDOC week (then called NAIDOC) which remains to this day. The National Aboriginal Day Observance Committee (NADOC) was quickly established, and in 1974, it decided the commemoration should take place over the course of a week, not just one day, and thus is now observed between the first and second Sundays in July. This years host city was Alice Springs, where the NAIDOC ball and the NAIDOC awards were meant to stand as a platform for celebrating achievement, building for a better future, and reminding all of us of the history of 65,000 years in Australia.

Major celebration events are held in major cities across Australia, and also large rural Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities including Alice Springs, Hermannsburg, Shepparton and Mildura. Exciting events occur throughout NAIDOC Week, including a national ceremony to recognise the achievements of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people, the NAIDOC Week poster competition, featuring works by Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 13 years or over. NAIDOC week is rapidly approaching – time to celebrate Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people, and to call for changes in the systems that continue to oppress Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people. This significant observance day marks the history of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander children being forcibly removed from their families, and their subsequent placement into non-Indigenous foster homes (the Stolen Generation).

In response to this knowledge, and a timely reminder on the calendar that NAIDOC Week is upon us – a time for celebrating many wonderful achievements and victories by Indigenous communities — many education and child welfare services will be looking to engage a representative of the community for one day, working with children and educators, giving them an insight into Indigenous culture. Not only might that not be culturally sensitive, or not appropriate, acknowledging and celebrating First Nations culture is something that needs to be embedded throughout the curriculum, year-round. This avoidance of real issues may result in a sort of tokenism — having posters or celebrations one day of the year, for instance – where we could find and take advantage of valuable opportunities to acknowledge and teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within the framework of our normal programs. Events like Sorry Day, Mabo Day, and NAIDOC week all serve to shine a light on some of the issues/successes that Indigenous peoples of Australia are facing, and to prompt conversations on these issues among all Australians.

NAIDOC week events are held across Australia, often including musical performances, art displays, cultural workshops, talks, Naidoc clothing and activities for children. For many Indigenous people, a ball during NAIDOC Week is a major event of the year, where they travel hundreds of kilometres to reconnect with their families, to network, and meet others from their communities. NAIDOC Week activities (NAY-dok) may involve listening to Indigenous Australian music, reading stories from Dream Time, visiting Indigenous Australian websites online, holding a craft competition, wearing Aboriginal clothing and watching programs related to the week on both Australian TV (and its streaming services).

In the world of business, it is often said that the first impression lasts the longest. There is no better way for others to experience a great first impression of you that getting across your business card. Your business card can entice others to your business if done well, or it can make others dismiss your venture if your business card is not presentable. So, in the world of business, it is important to create wonderful and amazing business cards. This piece is going to give you some details on how you can go about making your business cards appealing.

The first thing you need to have in mind is that the design for the business card has to be simple. Your card should not be too outlandish. It should be simple but classy at the same time. The font used on the card must be legible, and the colour combinations used should be catchy and not conflicting. Your business card should not be a pack of conflicting hues. Another thing that must be a feature of the card is that it must be an ideal size. It should not be too small, and it should not be too big. It should just be a standard size business card that can easily fit into someone’s pocket or wallet.

Once the above-listed points have been taken care of, another thing you need to do is to pay attention to the content on the card. This is very important because it is what you put on the card that others are going to read. The message that you have crafted on the card is, therefore, very important. You must be careful when it comes to putting the necessary information on the card. The message must not be too complicated so that anyone that reads your card can easily understand the details or message of what your business is all about.

The card must contain all the relevant information about not just your business, but also how they can reach you. Your business card cannot be amazing if it does not have the relevant details on how those interested in your business can reach out to you. With all that said, the focus now will be on the feel and overall aesthetic of the card. What many businesses use at this point is the service of being able to utilise special finishes. With a special finish like metallic inks, you get to add real class and uniqueness to your cards. Even though this can bey pricey in many cases, it is worth it. Business cards are essential these days, and there is no doubt they bring in plenty of business just by handing them out to people and catching their eye.

If you happen to be skilled enough to get them all done by yourself, then proceed with the design. But if you cannot do it on your own, you will have to work closely with the designers of the card so that you can monitor the progress and ensure that the business cards turn out to be pretty amazing and just as you like it. Your business card is a fantastic opportunity to get others to learn about your ventures so you should take it seriously. Don’t let your business suffer from poorly designed business cards. Make a statement about your business and attract customers just from the use of a well-designed business card.

Velvet- A Trend in Interior Design

Velvet has been considered a symbol of opulence and luxury in interior design for a long time. The popularity of velvet has been growing rapidly in the past few years, and it is expected to remain as one of the biggest interior design trends for years to come.

However, many people are apprehensive to use velvet because it is a heavy and overwhelming fabric. It can add a touch of comfort, luxury, and glamour to space if used correctly. Many decades ago, velvet was used to achieve a royal look, and now it has become a favourite fabric among interior designers. Velvet in the past was only available in limited colours. However, today you can get velvet in a broad range of colours, tones, and shades.

Why is velvet a trend in the interior design field?

Velvet is undoubtedly one of the best options for a home. Here are some reasons that make velvet a favourite fabric of many interior designers.

Versatility

Velvet is a highly luxurious fabric; therefore, people consider it less adaptable while designing the interior of their home. The reality is the opposite though because it is available in a wide variety of pieces. This could include larger items like upholstered beds or smaller options like pillows and cushions. It is surprisingly versatile as it makes the room luminous and glamorous, but comfortable at the same time.

It is long-lasting

A common misconception of people regarding velvet is that it requires high maintenance. However, the truth is it can last for years if cared for properly, no matter if it is delicate. Even in a room where you spend most of your time, it can hold up beautifully for years. The velvet may ruffle up with time and regular use. Do not worry, because you can simply steam it to smooth it or the fabric will maintain its state naturally. Velvet always gets better with time, making it a favourite for interior designers.

Easy to clean

Velvet is very easy to clean and it is easy to maintain. You just have to incorporate it in your regular cleaning. To clean velvet, use the of the nozzle of the vacuum to get up the dirt. Stains on velvet can be dealt with a stain repellant, and so you can gently dab the spill with a damp cloth. However, it becomes a little problematic when the stain dries out because it sticks to the yarns of velvet.

Light looks bright

When we think about velvet in interior design, we mostly prefer a deep emerald and more vibrant colours like navy blue, brown or red. However, softer shades of velvet provide extra shine to a space and is equally alluring. The more delicate shades feel light and create an utterly fresh look in the room.

How to use velvet at home?

You can find many velvet accessories in stores, and you can select your favourite velvet furniture for the interior of your house. Most people do not know how to follow one of the most significant interior design trends; however, it is not difficult to give your home a velvety look. Decor and design can create a great impression on your guests.

A velvet sofa or armchair is the best way to incorporate velvet in your home. You can simply buy a statement velvet sofa, or if it is out of the budget, you can add a velvet armchair in the living area to enhance the charm of the space. Adding velvet textures through soft furnishings like cushions is cost-effective and the easiest way to achieve a velvety feel. A sizeable velvet rug will revamp an area and give the room a cosy vibe. Moreover, a velvet bed frame can complement any décor style and give your bedroom a luxurious vibe. Velvet has been a fixture of interior design for many years because of its high-end appearance and will continue to be used.

Line Art- Interior Design Trends

Line art involves an image that has a simple background and does not use many colours. Line art commonly contains a white and black theme, but it is not always necessary. It is the most popular form of art currently, and therefore it is taking over home design. This art is inspired by the line drawings by Picasso and Matisse. These art pieces use fluid lines to create faces and bodies. It has brought minimalism to the art world because it embraces space and simplicity. Line art is created with a bold and clean line without shading.

If the theme of your room is white, then the minimalist version of line art is best to bring a creative and energetic feel into the room and allows you to clash colours and mix exiting patterns elsewhere in the room. It is not difficult to follow the line art interior design trend as you can use this art anywhere to have a classic statement in your home.

Line drawing

If you are on the hunt to add a personal statement in your home, then a visually attractive line drawing is the best way to personalise your home. The two-dimensional image blended into one another creates an abstract feel. The decor and design plays a huge part in the atmosphere of a home.

Line curtains

Make the interior of your home more eye-catching by using line curtains. You can use curtains with bold and bright lines. These lines do not need to be a crazy print because even the simplest lines can show versatility. You can use curtains with thin lines for a modest approach, but using bold lines will make it more prominent.

Line drawing for bedding

Even for bedding, line drawings are useful to make your bedding more unique and interesting. This is one of the best ways to give your home a line art statement. You can use abstract pillowcases and comforters to make it more iconic.

One line drawing

A one-line abstract piece is simple in its execution, but its thick black line creates a bold presence. Let this piece stand on the wall above the couch to make it more prominent. The twisted knot of a line drawing makes it confusing but gives the surrounding space a soothing feel.

Ceramic vase

A Picasso-esque vase gives versatility to line art decor. This terracotta clay vase has a picture of a lopsided face that was made with flowing brush lines and conceptual shapes. Placing this vase in the middle of the table in the living room will create a centrepiece, or you can also place it on the side table.

Line-work pillows

The best way to bring line art into your bedroom or living room is through soft furnishings that have embodied lines to represent line art. Handmade woollen pillows can create a feeling of modern art. A neutral space around the cushions allows the subtle colours to keep the artwork as the star piece.

Line art wallpaper

Line art wallpaper helps you to transform the complete feel of a space. Line art wallpaper is in trend because it is cost-effective and easy to achieve. The only thing you have to consider is a line pattern and colour scheme. If you have a minimal budget but want a line art interior design theme, this trend is suitable for you. Home interior designers can give advice if you do not know where to start.

The line art interior design can be easily achieved without affecting the everyday elegance of your home. By using accessories from plates, rugs, wall arts, decor pieces or a designed wall inspired by line art, you can give your house an artistic and playful feel. The line art interior design does not cost much as you can quickly bring it into your home; even with minimal touches. Moreover, you can easily replace and change the theme whenever you need without creating too much work.

Artistic European or Marble tile work

Art gallery tiling work

When designing an art gallery there are several factors that must be put into consideration. The way the art gallery is designed will determine its success or failure. A good design is more likely to attract customers. Designing an art gallery may turn out to be a challenging process especially if you don’t have a goal in mind. Before you start applying various designs you must ensure that the design you have chosen reflects the pieces of art that will be on display.

One of the main factors that must be considered is the style of tile that will be used in the gallery. This has a lot to do with how the floor will be designed and what themes will be applied in the flooring tiles. Marble style tiles are among the best flooring designs that you can choose from. This is because marble tiles offer all that your art gallery may need. Here are some of the advantages of using marble tiles in your art gallery.

High aesthetic value

Marble tiles are generally very beautiful. If the right design is applied the art gallery will adopt the same beauty. When properly polished marble tiles can turn the whole room into one giant mirror creating artistic images on every surface. This will make the art pieces on display to be more visible to the customer as one will be able to see the artifacts even without directly looking at them. The reflections in the room will act as a third eye to the customers.

Marble tiles come in a variety

Using marble tiles will give you an easy time when tuning the appearance of your art gallery as against when you decide to go for European style tiles. This is made possible since marble tiles come in a variety of colours, designs, and patterns. This allows you to come up with jaw-dropping custom designs that will attract more customers to your gallery. Depending on the pieces of art you are showcasing marble tiles will make it easier to switch from one artistic theme to another. Through this, you can easily keep up with changing trends in the world of art. The variety of patterns on marble tiles will also create art in their own way when properly installed.

Woman admiring art

Marble tiles are radiant

Because of their translucent nature marble tiles can reflect light. This property gives them a radiant property that makes them very effective when used in art galleries. When marble tiles have used the lighting in the gallery will be improved as the tiles will be reflecting light from various sources. This will give the entire room a sparkling look that will attract more customers and visitors. Due to the reflection property, impressions of the pieces of art hanged on the walls are also likely to be reflected on the marble floor. This will create a rare view that may attract further attention from those in the gallery.

Marble floors are very easy to clean

Art galleries are places that require a high standard of cleanliness. With marble tiles, your art gallery will look clean all the time. Marble tiles will give you an easy time when cleaning since all that is required is a simple wipe on the surface. Floors made of marble tiles also don’t get dirty easily, this is because the surface of these marbles is designed in such a way that stains cannot stick to them permanently.

Marble tiles are durable

Marble tiles are very tough and can withstand external pressure. This makes them effective in places with high traffic such as art galleries. By using marble tiles, you can be sure that you won’t have to spend on replacements from time to time.

Nailing An Internship In The Arts Sector

international internship in arts sector

So you have sent out your cover letter and resume and have since had a call from the manager who wants to schedule an interview with you. Follow the steps below to help ensure you have a successful interview, which is the next step in your international student internship process. You not only want the internship, but you want to nail it completely.

Be Prepared

Time to prepare yourself for the interview by wearing the appropriate clothing, carrying out some research on the company internship in the artsand start a list of questions that you want to bring to the meeting. Bring your resume to the interview just in case there isn’t a copy on hand the employer might want to refer back to. Practice answering some standard interview questions which you can find online to help you prepare and gain some confidence before you get there.

Make a Good First Impression

The interview is your chance to get out there and market yourself. This is the reason that you sent out the resumes and prepared well for the interview. Once you get to the interview point, you now have the job to create a good first impression by attending to some non-verbal behaviour like shaking hands and keeping eye contact, being prompt and being on time. It is good to appear poised, but you also want to look relaxed throughout the interview. Giving a good first impression will help to set your stage for a successful interview.

Emphasise your accomplishments and skills

Let there be a focus on your achievements and abilities. Mention any volunteer work that may be related or extracurricular activities that will come in handy for the job and any other internships or experiences you have had in the past. Everything is important here from describing your communication skills, organisation, problem-solving, strong analytical, and so on.

Provide the interviewer with some skill examples

A common way of interviewing is called behavioural interviewing. The interviewer will give you a scenario and ask how you would handle a particular situation. Prepare yourself for these types of questions before the interview, which will provide you with a quick reference to any relevant previous experiences. This is where the manager will see what your problem-solving capabilities are and your thought process.

Make sure you comprehend the question before answering

When your interviewer asks a question, know that it is ok to ask them to repeat the question or clarify what they mean. Avoid rushing ahead and assume you know the right answer. You can work with a student placement service provider to prepare for the interview as well as to find internships.

Bring in samples of your work with you

Whether you are into studio art, photography or teaching art bring in some samples to your appointment. Managers like to see what you can do visually.

Finish the interview with confidence

The start and end of the interview can be the most important part of the interview. You should always end your interview in confidence. Thank your interviewer for their time and ask when you would expect to hear back about the results.

Follow up with a thank-you note

Take this opportunity to clarify any topics that were discussed in the interview and recap your interest in the internship and organisation. Send a thank-you note to the company and the person who interviewed you.

Now the wait starts to see if you nailed the internship! Sometimes the first one fails, which is why you should have a few interviews up your sleeve. But don’t get discouraged, there will always be other opportunities – you want to make sure the company is a great fit – and that it has great employee benefits.

Turn Painting Into A Hobby

painting as a hobby

Paint can be used for many different things. First of all, there is paint used for houses and interiors – that includes traditional timber oil as well as wall paint – and these types of pain come in big tubs. If you are renovating at home and you need to paint a wooden surface, you need to get this type of paint. But before you paint anything (especially wood), remember to clean it first with decking preparation.

But, that’s not really the type of paint you are interested in, is it? You want to paint pictures and artwork yourself!  But if you are a complete beginner when it comes to painting it can be hard to know where to start. If that’s you, my best tip is to start with acrylic paints.

Acrylic Paint

This type of paint is not expensive and is easy for beginners to deal with. They are water-soluble, so it makes for easy cleanup, quick-drying and will give you a good all-around first paint experience.

It’s very common, especially as a new artist that is just starting out, to have a mental blank when you sit in front of the canvas. Therefore, a good tip is to think ahead and find some ideas of what you would like to paint. You can look on Pinterest for some ideas, or simply just google pictures and photos and try to recreate them on your own canvas. This can help stimulate your imagination and encourage you to start thinking visually.

Painting is not only for professionals. It can be a great past-time and a very calming and enjoyable hobby.

Don’t worry about being an amateur when painting, this happens to everyone who starts out. Even professionals were amateurs at one stage. Do you know the word amateur comes from amateur which means one who loves? This should give you a better feeling of being an amateur. Painting is done for enjoyment and my guess is that you’ll find yourself proud and sentimental of your work pretty quickly.

There may even be a time when you become more advanced in your painting, and decide that you might like to start selling your work. This can give you satisfaction, knowing that someone likes your art so much they are willing to pay for it.

In nursing homes and group homes, people join art classes not just to fill in time but to create their own masterpiece and enjoy the relaxation that painting can bring. Painting can also be very challenging, and you will find that at times you will be so absorbed in this hobby that time just flies by. If you join a painting group, you will find everyone is at the same level as you and that you are not alone when you face troubles like mental blanks and not getting something right.

It doesn’t matter how old you are or what stage in life you’re in; a painting can be really beneficial for people of all ages, including little children. I think it’s time for you to start painting something and wait for people to comment on your beautiful work! Then you can feel super proud when you point and say “I did that, that painting is my work”. Painting can be an escape into a new world of calmness. Painting even makes for a sentimental present for a wedding or birthday. You can work with pictures already drawn to get comfortable with different shades and mixing colours before you work on sketching and creating your own drawings from scratch.

If you don’t feel confident with painting, you can take one of one many lesson available, with an art teacher who can help you to learn the basics. Once you feel more comfortable, then you can move onto the next level and try more advanced methods. Enjoy paint shopping, picking out a nice canvas, choose your easel, your pallet and some wonderful bright colours to use. The best thing about painting is that you can paint your backyard, the beach, your family portrait or even whatever is sitting in front of you at the time.

Get your inspiration ready and see what you can create. You never know you could end up becoming the next famous painter!

Use Design To Increase The Value Of Your Home

Use Design To Improve Your Home

Not all renovations will give you a nice profit in the end when selling your home. There are some projects that will cost plenty more to do than what they will give you back in return. To make sure you know which ones are worth the trouble (and the $$), I’ve conducted thorough research to find the best solutions. Here are a few renovation and design trends that will give you the best return when you decide to sell:

Bathroom
There are two options here: you can either update the bathroom or add another. The trend for more bathrooms has been growing over time and it is being reflected within the renovation market too. It is not unusual for homes to have 1 bathroom and 1 ensuite these days. If you are renovating or adding another bathroom, then it is important to have your budget set out from the start and aim to stick to that fixed price (to the best of your ability). Most buyers want bathrooms to be up to date and modern with stylish fixtures and fittings. It’s also important to style if properly; add some beautiful coastal style home interiors or a couple of plants. There are so many components to a bathroom, that it’s easy to make small improvements that will have a big impact.

Repainting
Renovations are meant to show off the home’s qualities rather than diminish its value. By doing good renovations, you’ll have the best opportunity to make a good profit when you sell. Painting is a good option to give the home a cheap and easy “lift” (as long as you are using modern shades and colours). Paint is actually a powerful renovating tool. You can modernise and refresh an outdated and tired home with just a coat of paint in a modern colour scheme. Trust me, if you add one of those stunning armadillo rugs to a newly painted, white room – people will go nuts for it!

Street appeal
When you are renovating a home with a set resale in mind, ensure you are making improvements to the outside of the house as well. You want to maximise the number of potential buyers that are walking through the door enticed from the street view. With this in mind, consider incorporating things like modern cladding materials. You also need to clean up the garden and make it look thriving and beautiful. Your front door is important for the street appeal. If you’ve got an outdated door, consider replacing it with a modern front door that has more of a wow factor to it. You can even paint the door with rich colour and give it a big lift. Ensure the garden is tidy, the front lawns are mowed, and no weeds are seen popping out anywhere. Either replace or repaint the front fence and add a new modern letterbox and house number.

Outdoor area
There is a big trend when it comes to upgrading your outdoor area to a more indoor-outdoor style of living. We used to see barbies on a patio, but now the outdoor area is an extra room that is just an extension of the home with big, wide-open doors opening right outwards. Your outdoor area is now a driver for the buyers. They imagine themselves using it and suddenly they are sold on the type of lifestyle it could offer.

All home renovations should be done with the intention to increase profit. Try not to inject too many personal preferences and tastes into your design choices. Try to keep a broad audience in mind – less is more here!
Things like pools and new appliances won’t add much profit and are not exactly what people are looking for. Search the current market and see what is selling and what isn’t, and work out how it differs from yours and what extra could you be doing to bump up the profit.

What Is Nail Art

nail art

Professional nail art is decorating and painting nails with colourful materials, designs and things like gemstones – to brighten up the traditional manicure with certain accessories. The nail art industry appears to have boomed and has now come into high fashion. It is very popular amongst popular culture enthusiasts, which means it is now a key asset for generations of women who like to show their individuality and personal styles through their manicure. What used to dominate the nail art market was the traditional red and pink shades, but now we are seeing more freestyle artistic creativity. Beauty technicians have a big variety of colours, foils, stickers and new 3D designs that they use to create nail art on their clients.

In the last few years, the demand for custom nails has taken off, and the trends are changing constantly. It doesn’t matter what mood, outfit or occasion you’re going for – there is a nail tool, polish or technique to complement it. Having a unique set of nails makes it so easy to express your creativity and show off your individuality in an affordable and powerful way.

Professional nail art techniques

Many salons offer professional nail services that suit different occasions, tastes and budgets. Some blow wave bars offer nail manicures in addition to their hair services too – which is an option you might want to look into. You can buy your own DIY nail art, however, you are going to get a longer-lasting result and better-quality nail designs if you go to a real nail salon. Some styles are just too hard to achieve yourself.

Here is a list of the most popular nail art treatments and techniques that can be achieved at a beauty salon:

Gel nail art

This popular form of professional nail art is offered in many different salons and it is called gel manicure. This manicure involves the application of special gel polish to the nail that is set in place by a purple UV lightbox. A modern application is the bio sculpture gel, which comes in a variety of colours and will actually strengthen and protect your nails.

Foil nails

This is an eye-catching nail design that has emerged in recent years. It is a multi-dimensional manicure that is created using foil transfers. There is a huge variety of patterns, colours and different metallic shades available. This option is super pretty and often ends up lasting the same amount of time as a normal manicure. To get this look, the nail artist will start by getting the foil transfers cut to match the size and shape of your nails. A special glue is then added to the nail in order to hold the foil in place. The nail technician will then apply coats of clear polish in order to set the foil. And voila – you are done!

Nail piercing

This one is pretty self-explanatory. The technician will create a small hole in your nail using a nail plate and insert a decorative gemstone or accessory. This doesn’t take long and is an easy way to add some sparkle to your nails. The best thing about the nail piercing option is the fact that it can be done on both natural and acrylic nails.

Nail art pens

The interest in nail art is growing every year, and the latest addition to the nail art tool is the art pen. Nail technicians can use this handy device to add decoration with different images, colours, patterns and textures. This will create a unique manicure each and every time you get it done.

3d nail art

These days women want volumetric nail art. This can be done by using different tools and techniques that include glues, gemstones, colours and special gels.

With so many options available, you are bound to find something that suits you and your budget. Just make sure you are not allergic to any of the chemicals.

How Halloween Attire Can Be Freakier Using Coloured Lenses

Make up beauty

Adding special effects to Halloween costumes is fun. With coloured contact lenses, it’s easy to make simple Halloween costumes that come with some freaky feelings. However, the Halloween event was designed to disguise with costumes and celebrate with friends. According to experts, everyone must be careful when choosing freaky coloured lenses. Since the eye is a sensitive organ, it’s important to use the right cosmetic lenses. Here’s how to make freaking Halloween attire with them.

Getting Freaky With Unique Halloween Attire and Colored Lenses

Wearing Halloween costumes with colourful contact lenses creates a bizarre look. However, the use of these lenses is not limited to scary costumes for Halloween. Artificial eye lenses complement a range of costumes, and they have been popular aesthetic elements for Halloween. During Halloween, wearing different colour eye lenses with weird costumes could freak out people.

Halloween coloured lenses with attires like the Vampire’s teeth and werewolf hair are one of the freakiest combinations. You can find other decorative accessories in the costume shop. Regardless of your Halloween attire, cosmetic lenses often stand out as ideal accessories for the occasion.

Disguising your eyes with colourful lenses can create an eerie feeling. When you match with weird Halloween attire, it might be freaky. This year’s Halloween party should bring the chance to attract people with unique costume ideas. White, black, red, and green lenses have sharp decorative colours. Get Halloween lenses that mimic or disguise perfectly.

Use freaky Halloween costume ideas with coloured lenses to thrill your admirers. Being creative is one of the must-have skills for Halloween enthusiasts during this annual event. A pair of zombie’s eyes with red lenses and paints (like blood) dripping on your attire is unique. Try something different with green lenses and the Walking Dead costume too.

Also, don’t forget to share this inspiring mix of Halloween attire with friends on social media. It might help other people to become creative.

Contact lenses

Why You Should Be Careful With Colored Lenses

Unlike contact lenses, it’s safe to buy cosmetic lenses without a prescription. However, users of coloured lenses have to be careful with them. Whether we buy these decorative lenses from costume shops, they can cause serious eye damages with poor usage. Also, watch out for poor quality coloured lenses when you patronize online vendors.

After buying coloured lenses for Halloween, practice good hand hygiene practices anytime you want to wear them. Normally, coloured lenses are inserted and removed by the hand. Ensure to wash your hands with warm water and soap before touching these lenses.

Don’t fail to fix them properly and avoid scratches on the cornea of your eye. In worse conditions, improper use of the lens might cause corneal infection (a sore) or conjunctivitis. During Halloween, your delicate eyes don’t need the risk of poor vision. Please see a doctor if you feel burning or itching sensations after using your Halloween lenses.

Store Colored Lenses Properly

Apart from handling, it’s essential to store Halloween lenses properly. Regardless of prescription status, disinfecting your lens is a good hygiene habit. During Halloween, people often get busy, and they engage in different activities. It’s easy for microorganisms to reach your Halloween lenses, and cause infections. When you order for your lenses, buy a lens case (if it doesn’t come with other accessories) and disinfecting solutions. Rinse and clean Halloween coloured lenses you before storing them properly. Check for basic care and cleaning instructions on the internet too.

How Advertising Helps a Museum!

art, gallery, paintings

Museums are homes for cultural heritage, historical artifacts and legendary customs proven by the relics and ancient materials they have collected over time. Its main importance to society is its ability to preserve, research, study and record these findings and share it to the people for the sole purpose of learning. This way, we get a hold of how civilization had come about and how we all evolved as human beings.

conference, meeting, display

Despite these very interesting facts, museums remain uninteresting and mostly ignored because of the greatest discovery of all time, mobile phones. People nowadays research everything online. They won’t go to libraries, galleries and museums anymore to get hold of something fresh, abstract and historical. In short, nobody pays attention to museums anymore. And while museums aim to preserve for the sake of learning, learning on the other hand diminishes because of too much reliance on technology.

To avoid this catastrophe, this needs to be reversed. But how?

If mobile phones are what keeps them preoccupied, then let it be a way to bring the museums to their attention. Advertise through it.

Here’s how advertising can help a museum display really take off:

  • Make use of the limitless potential

Museums have never been a fan of technology. Somehow, cameras are prohibited inside museums most of the time. Considering every mobile phone has a built-in camera, it’s time to embrace technology and take advantage of this form of digital marketing. Instead of looking at it as a way to tamper an artwork’s exclusivity, allow its photo to be taken and use it to advertise the museum or your latest exhibition showcase.

User generated content, which basically arises from either fans of social media or of a certain product, event or place – anything that is worth featuring in their posts, can be considered a modern way of doing advertisement via word of mouth.

This way, artwork enthusiasts, collectors and researchers themselves could build a community altogether that could influence other people to check out what the fuss is all about. People are naturally curious, and they naturally want to belong in a community. Their curiosity drives them into finding the right group for them. Eventually, they become your greatest advertisers as they share away their first-hand experiences and visitations in museums when they share these in their social media. The secret is to come up with a bad-ass hashtag that only resembles your museum.

  • It can provide a medium for what the museum is showcasing.

Assign mobile-friendly tasks while making use of the advertisements in Facebook. Entitle a gallery or an exhibit using trendy formats like: “Click on your favorite!” Showcase every piece that can be captured and then tag a friend who’ll like it as you publish it. This calls them to act as soon as they reach the event. And as they tag their friends in social media, there would be an instant pressure to do the same to conform to the established community.

Hashtags can do wonders as this is how everybody is linked to each other. When there’s an opportunity to connect among these communities, it instantly makes noise and people will start to wonder and decide to experience going there themselves. Advertisement is effective when it is used this way.

It was  first installed in Copenhagen in 2014, then in Paris in 2015. It  consists of pieces of glacier that are left to slowly melt. the purpose is  to make scientific data explicit. The idea is to make visible as to  what on earth is going on. In fact it’s more about  what is going on with our planet.

Outside Tate Modern, twenty-four blocks will be displayed. This is where Eliasson’s survey exhibition will open in July. Six more will be placed outside Bloomberg’s European headquarters and Bloomberg Philanthropies is sponsoring the project. They timed to coincide with a meeting of world leaders at the COP24 climate change conference in Katowice Poland. It follows an alarming study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The panel  gave the grave warning that we have about a 12-year window to stop the worst effects of climate change which affects the entire planet.
